Gangtok: A new 650-metre viaduct in the Namli area of Gangtok district opened for commercial traffic on May 19. The project aims to improve regional connectivity between National Highway 10 and Airport Road NH 717A.

Built at an average height of 25 metres, the structure spans the space between the National Science Museum and the State Science Centre. Local officials expect the road to serve as a key diversion for the busy town of Ranipool, which should significantly alleviate traffic congestion in the area.

Beyond clearing up local bottlenecks, the viaduct cuts the travel distance between Pakyong and Siliguri by nearly 6.5 kilometres. By streamlining movement along this strategic corridor, authorities hope to enhance transportation efficiency for residents and commuters traveling through eastern Sikkim.
