Nagaland Roundup: Athlete Database, Pension Payouts, and Vaccination Clinics

Kohima: Nagaland authorities are launching a digital portal to track athlete welfare. The Department of Youth Resources and Sports wants a comprehensive database. Officials in Dimapur and Niuland must submit athlete records by July 24 to the District Youth Resources and Sports Officer. This move aims to improve transparency for state sports development.

Pension payments start June 25 in Dimapur. The District Welfare Office will distribute funds for several schemes, including the Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension and disability programs. Beneficiaries must bring copies of their BPL card, Aadhaar, and bank passbook to the Eralibill office. Officials warned that unseeded Aadhaar numbers may lead to removal from future payment cycles.

East Dimapur Town Council is hosting a free anti-rabies drive. Pet owners can bring dogs and cats to the council office at Purana Bazar ISBT on June 26. The clinic runs from 9:00 am to noon. Meanwhile, the Chakhesang Vero Union set its leadership for 2026-2028. Vethi Vero will serve as chairman, supported by a full slate of new office bearers.

The Kohima Press Club is mourning. Vihutuo Tsükrü, brother of member Atono Tsükrü Kense, died Monday at Oking Hospital. He was 34. The club issued a formal statement regarding the loss. “The Kohima Press Club deeply mourns the untimely loss and stands in solidarity with our member during this difficult hour.”
