Kohima: Nagaland is gearing up for the 2026 Har Ghar Tiranga campaign. The event runs from August 9 to 17 across the state. Home Commissioner Abhijit Sinha chaired a planning meeting on July 30 to lock in final details. Officials from departments including Home, Police, Art and Culture, and Education attended the session to divide tasks.
The Nagaland Police will spearhead a large-scale Tiranga Rally. Students, youth groups, armed forces, and locals will march with the National Flag. All participants must follow the Flag Code. The Art and Culture Department is handling digital exhibitions at busy spots like bus terminals and squares. Meanwhile, the Commissioner and the Rural Development Department are teaming up to organize cycle and e-bike rallies.
Government buildings, bridges, and markets will get a patriotic makeover. Administrative heads are responsible for the light displays and decorations. Educational campuses will feature artwork and quotes from independence-era figures. The Information and Public Relations Department is pushing a social media drive. They want residents to join the effort by posting a "Selfie with Tiranga" on the campaign portal.
Logistics are already in motion. The state ordered 1.6 lakh National Flags, each sized at 30 by 20 inches. These will come through the Department of Posts. Everything lands at a central hub in Dimapur. The Deputy Commissioner will oversee the site. Police headquarters is handling the transport of these flags to various districts. Staff must track every flag issued. Any extras must return to the Home Department after the event ends. District-level execution falls to Deputy Commissioners, working alongside Municipal Administrators and Block Development Officers.
