Kohima: Nagaland educators gathered at Alder College in Kohima on September 11 for a state-level workshop. The Nagaland Education Association, Nagaland University, and Alder College hosted the event. Teachers attended to master Artificial Intelligence and the SWAYAM platform.
NEA President Dr. Bweyhunle Khing opened the session. She called teachers the architects of the future. She noted that professional development is a direct investment in the nation. “In order to compete with the rest of the world, we need to give maximum investment in the field of education,” she said. Khing described education as the godmother of all professions.
Moasunep Kichu from NIELIT led the first technical session on AI. He told attendees to treat AI as a co-pilot, not an autopilot. Kichu outlined a four-stage workflow for teachers. He insisted that technology handles repetitive tasks while teachers maintain control over creativity and student care. AI will not replace human educators.
Dr. Boyillapalli Venkata Rao of Nagaland University managed the second session on SWAYAM. The Government of India launched this platform in 2017 to offer free education from school to postgraduate levels. It helps those in remote areas or working professionals gain knowledge without tuition fees. Dr. Rao urged institutions to appoint coordinators for the program and utilize Academic Bank of Credits IDs.
Dr. Keneiseno Chase chaired the event. Dr. Daili Kholia delivered the closing remarks.

Technical officer Moasunep Kichu pushed the four Vs for responsible tech use: Verify, Validate, Value Privacy, and Vigilance. He also introduced attendees to prompt engineering and the use of AI tools for lesson planning and research.
Dr. Daili Kholia serves as the General Secretary of the Nagaland Education Association. Dr. Boyillapalli Venkata Rao is an Associate Professor at the university. Kichu operates out of the Department of IT at NIELIT in Kohima.
