Agartala: MLA Jahar Chakraborty met the Dharmanagar Railway Station Master on Saturday. He led a team of councillors and party workers to fix long-standing travel gripes. Commuters face daily hazards.
The group wants the morning local train to Agartala moved from Platform 2 to Platform 1. Currently, elderly and disabled passengers must trek across the overbridge to board. The team also asked for the night local train from Agartala to arrive at Platform 1 to keep things simple.
Train stops cause panic. Express trains now sit for only two minutes. This window is too tight for safe boarding or alighting. The group wants this time doubled to four minutes to prevent accidents. Chakraborty believes change is coming soon.
"These are practical issues affecting everyday commuters. We expect the station authorities to take immediate steps," Chakraborty said. He remains confident that railway officials will address these safety risks.
