MLA Claims Fertile Soil Drives India’s Population Surge

Guwahati: Boko-Chaygaon MLA Raju Mech linked India's massive population growth to the nation's vast, fertile soil. He addressed the issue during a meeting held at the Boko Sub-Divisional Agriculture Officer’s office this past Tuesday. The country now supports 140 crore people. Mech says the land made it possible.

He pointed to the historical strength of India's agrarian economy as the engine for this expansion. "India's agricultural character and its capacity to sustain food production have enabled the country to support a large population over the years," Mech stated. The meeting focused on local agriculture issues. Mech insisted that consistent access to productive, cultivable land remains the bedrock for sustaining such high numbers.
