Guwahati: A CRPF jawan from Assam is dead. Amarendra Ray vanished more than a week ago, leaving his family in the dark. Officials found his body at Kota Junction railway station in Rajasthan on July 11.

Ray hailed from Manikpur in the Bongaigaon district. Authorities identified him using official documents recovered from his belongings. The jawan left Bijni in Chirang district on July 2 to travel for duty. He arrived at Tundla Junction in Uttar Pradesh on July 3 and spent the night at a hotel near Agra Fort. He boarded a train from Agra Idgah station the following morning, but contact with his family ended immediately after that.

Nobody knows how he died. Police officials confirmed that "the circumstances surrounding his death are yet to be established." Investigators are digging into the case now. They expect to release more information once the probe makes progress.
