Agartala: Gobinda Das, 36, died Friday night at the Trauma Care Centre of Agartala Government Medical College and GBP Hospital. He succumbed to severe injuries sustained during a mob attack in the Kathaltali-Ranirkhamar area. Das, the son of Rabindra Das from the Kalimata Sangha area, lived near the Agartala Railway Station.

Amtali police officers rescued Das and brought him home last Tuesday. Family members found his body covered in wounds. Neighbors helped rush him to the hospital the following day. Das suffered from mental health issues following a 2014 road accident that required head surgery. He never fully recovered.

The victim's relatives labeled the attack a planned and brutal murder. They want an impartial probe and strict penalties for the attackers. The family stated, "The culprits be identified and given strict punishment." Amtali police have registered a case regarding the incident.
