Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma Dismisses Cockroach Janata Party Momentum

Shillong: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma has declined to weigh in on the Cockroach Janata Party, a new group currently campaigning for educational reforms. Sangma stated that it is premature to assess the outfit because it has yet to build a formal organizational structure or a constitutional foundation.

While acknowledging the digital buzz surrounding the movement, the Chief Minister noted that public attention does not equate to the stability required for a political party. He emphasized that genuine political success depends on long-term consistency rather than initial interest from the public.

“So, I think as and when the party builds itself up as an organisation, we will be in a position to comment,” Sangma said. He cautioned that a movement is only the beginning of a process, as managing a political organization presents complex challenges that go beyond simple advocacy.
