Medical team saves cobra bite victim at Barpeta Road FRU

Guwahati: A 59-year-old man survived a cobra bite on his right leg after swift medical intervention at the Barpeta Road First Referral Unit. He arrived on September 3, 2026. The victim soon showed signs of neurotoxic poisoning.

The emergency team acted fast. They administered Anti-Snake Venom and provided around-the-clock monitoring. The patient stabilized quickly. His symptoms receded after the treatment. He stayed under observation for 24 hours and remained stable throughout that period.

The National Health Mission credited the medical staff for the success. The team included doctors Shailesh B, Pradip Rajbongshi, Mithun Das, and Eliza Yasmin. Nurses Mridula, Dhanalakshmi, Momina, and Rubina also assisted in the care. According to the National Health Mission, Barpeta, the incident highlights the "importance of early recognition of snakebite complications, prompt administration of Anti-Snake Venom and coordinated emergency treatment in preventing serious outcomes."
