Measles Cases Drop in Peren District

Kohima: Measles cases in Peren are dropping. The situation is under control. Medical Superintendent Dr. Antoly Suu confirmed the latest report during the October 6 District Planning and Development Board meeting at the DC Conference Hall.

Confirmed cases popped up in Veterinary Colony and Jalukie B. The Health Department is watching these areas closely. Deputy Commissioner and DPDB Vice-Chairman Hiazu Meru wants more public awareness. He said, "necessary advisories would be circulated to promote awareness and preventive measures."

The board approved a new health sub-centre for Mhaikam village. Beyond health, the meeting tackled a long list of district business. They reviewed the NAAC accreditation for Peren Government College, Green Peren initiatives, the Unity Mini Hornbill Festival, an inter-departmental tournament, and the Barak River Catchment Area Project. The board also kicked the Peren Town Youth Organisation request for 18th Inter-Ward Tournament funding back to individual departments.

DC Meru reported on the Reform Utsav project. This federal initiative launched October 2 in New Peren and runs through December. The goal is gathering citizen feedback. The board formed a committee, led by the Peren HQ EAC and the Peren BDO, to bridge communication gaps regarding the Village Development Plan. The Forest and Youth Resources and Sports departments also delivered updates on their current programs.
