Agartala: Manughat residents shut down a National Highway on Friday to protest constant power outages in the Longtharai Valley subdivision. The blockade paralyzed traffic for hours as commuters baked in the heat. It turned into a raw display of public fury.

Locals pointed their anger at the Power Department, citing persistent service gaps and administrative failure. One demonstrator cut to the core of the issue: "We have suffered for too long. If a basic service like electricity cannot be ensured, how can people live with dignity?"

The protest quickly morphed into a political standoff. Demonstrators called for the Power Minister to resign immediately. They warned of larger, more aggressive actions if the lights stay off. Police and local officials arrived on the scene to force a negotiation, though the traffic disruption dragged on throughout the day.
