Imphal: Security forces demolished two militant bunkers in Manipur on July 20. The joint operation targeted Thawai Kuki village in the Ukhrul district. Troops moved in and razed the structures. They cleared the area of illegal weapons.
Personnel seized two single-barrel rifles, 10 rounds of live ammunition, an ammo pouch, and one pistol with a magazine. These items were taken during the sweep of the village and its outskirts.
In a separate strike on July 19, security teams grabbed three active members of the banned Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup outfit. The arrests happened near Border Pillar No. 50, located within the jurisdiction of the Chakpikarong Police Station in the Chandel district.
Police identified the detainees as 36-year-old Heikrujam Builder of Thoubal, 24-year-old Lanchenba Sarma of Imphal East, and 34-year-old Khoirampam Raison of Imphal West. All three held the rank of self-styled Lance Corporal. Law enforcement confirmed that "further investigation is underway" regarding the recent militant activity in the region.
