Imphal: Manipur health employees threatened to join the ongoing cease-work strike today. They are demanding the state government address their grievances immediately. The Trained Nurses Association of India Manipur State Branch, the Association for All Non-Teaching Staff, and the TNAI JNIMS Unit issued the warning at a press conference at JNIMS.
Loukrakpam Sanjarani, General Secretary of the TNAI Manipur State Branch, said staff held back until now. They wanted to protect patients. Healthcare workers offered only moral support to the agitators. Now, the situation is changing. If the Manipur Government Services Federation, Manipur Secretariat Services Association, and Manipur State Pensioners Union escalate their actions, health workers will join the picket lines.
Sanjarani stated that nurses and medical staff have a duty to keep services running. However, that patience is wearing thin. She said, "the employees demands are genuine" and urged officials to act fast. Continued government silence will force a total shutdown of healthcare across the state.
