Gangtok: Police in Sikkim have arrested Rabi Lal Limboo, a resident of Majhitar in Rangpo, following allegations of sexual abuse involving a 12-year-old girl. Authorities charged Limboo under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act of 2012.
The investigation began after the District Child Protection Unit in Pakyong filed a formal complaint. The report stated the alleged assault took place on June 2, 2026, while the victim was staying at the home of the accused. Following the filing of the case, police took Limboo into custody and presented him before a judge. The matter is now moving through the court system.
Limboo recently faced expulsion from the Sikkim Mulbasi Surakshak Sangathan, an organization where he served as the vice president for RTI affairs. The group stated that Limboo was removed due to "alleged anti-organisational activities, including the alleged collection of funds in the organisation's name for personal gain."
Legal officials have withheld the identity of the minor victim to comply with privacy laws regarding children in sexual offense cases. As the judicial trial is ongoing, no conviction has been entered against Limboo.
