Kohima: JNV Yakouke in Kohima kicked off a two-day cluster-level competition on September 8. The event draws 24 Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas from across the Shillong cluster. Students from Manipur, Meghalaya, and Nagaland arrived to compete in Art in Education and Kala Utsav.
Dr. Kekhrielhoulie Yhome, MLA for the 10th Northern Angami-I Assembly Constituency and Advisor to School Education, lit the ceremonial lamp. He praised the effort to highlight regional heritage. Yhome stated, "I encouraged the participants and appreciated initiatives that provide students opportunities to develop their artistic abilities and showcase the region's cultural heritage and creativity."
Key figures joined the opening. Assistant Commissioner Sarthak Singh attended as the special guest. District Education Officer Emilo Patton served as the guest of honor. Samagra Shiksha official Ruokuoneinuo and Kendriya Vidyalaya Principal Umesh Chandra also watched the kickoff.
The competition includes 163 students. They are performing across several categories. These include vocal and instrumental music, group orchestra, visual arts, and traditional storytelling. Kids are also showcasing indigenous toys, games, and local crafts. Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, Regional Office, Shillong, organized the event to help students swap cultural ideas through their work.
