Imphal: Nurses and non-teaching staff at the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences in Porompat began a five-day black badge protest on October 7. They want the administration to finish the Master Governance and Employee List process and credit pending National Pension System contributions to their accounts. The Trained Nurses Association and the Association for All Non-Teaching Staff are leading this push.
These workers submitted a formal letter to the JNIMS director on October 5. They asked for the issuance of MGEL Employee Identification Numbers and the settling of financial gaps. The staff had previously set a deadline of September 25 for these issues. They received zero response from management.
The associations represent a workforce frustrated by administrative silence. They held a general body meeting to plan their next moves. "The associations have called for timely intervention by the authorities to ensure that the pending matters are settled without further delay," stated the groups in their official representation. The current protest will run until October 11, with a relay sit-in starting on October 12.
Copies of their formal grievance went to the Principal Secretary of Health and Family Welfare for the Government of Manipur. They also alerted the JNIMS Deputy Director of Administration, the Deputy Director of Finance, the Medical Superintendent, and the Nursing Superintendent. The administration has yet to offer a public reply.
