Guwahati: The India Meteorological Department has issued a forecast for heavy to very heavy rainfall across Guwahati and multiple districts in Assam. Over the next three days, the region will face persistent thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds, which could lead to localized waterlogging, traffic delays, and potential landslides in sensitive areas.
The Assam State Disaster Management Authority has placed emergency response teams on high alert to handle any weather-related incidents. Officials have specifically warned residents living in low-lying zones and hillside communities to exercise extreme caution as these regions face the highest risk of flooding and earth slips.
Authorities have requested that both local commuters and long-distance travelers plan their trips carefully to avoid intense downpours. Regarding the public response, the ASDMA stated, "Citizens have been encouraged to follow official advisories and take necessary precautions to ensure safety during this prolonged spell of adverse weather." Updates will be provided through the agency's website and social media channels as the situation develops.
