Kohima: The Gauhati High Court Kohima Bench cleared the path for National Highway-329A. Justices Devashis Baruah and Helen Daungliani ruled on September 23 that a boundary dispute between Peren and Chumoukedima districts cannot stop the project. This highway remains a "long wait" for residents near the Pimla Junction to Mhainamtsi stretch.
The court reviewed compliance affidavits from the Deputy Commissioners of both districts. Landowners have already submitted No Objection Certificates. They agreed to the construction within the Right of Way provided the government pays due compensation. These owners pledged to avoid future disputes over the land.
Officials noted a boundary row remains under review by the state government. The court ignored this friction. It ordered the Deputy Commissioners and Additional Deputy Commissioners to verify affected land and calculate payout totals. Officials must send these reports to the Commissioner of Nagaland, who will pass them to the Commissioner and Secretary of Works and Housing.
These documents head to the Managing Director of NHIDCL, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, and the MoRTH Nodal Officer. The court wants an update on its desk by the next hearing on December 10.
