Guwahati: Police arrested four men during an anti-gambling raid in the Khameri area of Nagarbera, Assam. Officers took Monowar Hussain, Golap Ali, Shahjahan Ali, and Amjad Ali into custody as part of a widening crackdown. The force is cleaning house. Officers seized 34,840 rupees in cash and five mobile phones linked to the illegal betting ring.
The arrests follow a string of similar raids across the state. Illegal dens are popping up daily, pushing law enforcement to ramp up their local presence. Authorities registered a formal case against the group. An official statement noted, "The anti-gambling drive will continue across the state as part of efforts to curb illegal betting activities and maintain law and order."
Detectives are now digging into the background of the accused. They want to know if these men belong to a larger network. The investigation remains active as police look for other players involved in the scheme.
