Imphal: Ministry of Rural Development officials Altaf Hussain Haji and Rajesh Kumar touched down in Churachandpur on Wednesday. They arrived to audit how the district handles central welfare and infrastructure programs. Deputy Commissioner Krishna Kumar welcomed the team at his office before leading a formal review meeting.
Key district representatives from departments including the DRDA, PMGSY, MSRLM, DSWO, and RSETI attended the session. They scrutinized the rollout of several flagship initiatives. The list of programs covered includes VB-G RAM-G, PMAY-G, PMGSY-I and II, Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana, and the National Social Assistance Programme. They also checked on the National Rural Livelihoods Mission and the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana.
The inspectors hit the field after the meeting. They visited a VB-G RAM-G site in D. Leikot, Phaihel, to check the quality of labor. They talked to job card holders and pensioners during the stop. The team also traveled to Misao Lhahvom to evaluate a PMGSY road project. At the RSETI facility, they met with local youth learning trade skills.
The tour concluded at an M. Songgel worksite. They spoke with Self-Help Groups and residents about how federal cash actually hits the ground. Officials demanded better results from the staff on the front lines. The team stressed the need for "timely execution, quality implementation and ensuring that the benefits of government schemes reach the intended beneficiaries."
