Kohima: Members of the Eastern Nagaland People’s Union, Dimapur (ENPUD) gathered at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office on Saturday. They arrived early. Roughly 100 people from all eight tribal units, along with the ENWOD and DENSU, worked from 6:00 a.m. to 7:30 a.m.

ENPUD president N. T. Thamlong Phom opened the event with a welcome address. The group then observed a one-minute silent prayer to honor those killed during the recent landslide in Mon district.

The cleanup aimed to boost civic duty and hygiene. The DC’s office acts as the main administrative hub for the region. Organizers want other local government and private offices to follow this lead, especially as the monsoon season brings a heightened risk of disasters. According to the union, the effort was intended to encourage both government and private institutions to maintain a clean, healthy and well kept environment, particularly during the monsoon season which is prone to calamities and disasters.
