Shillong: The district administration of East Khasi Hills issued a public advisory on June 2 to address social media reports claiming a shortage of petrol, diesel, and LPG. Officials confirmed that these rumors are false and emphasized that fuel supplies remain stable across the region.

The Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Supply, stated that local distribution is under close observation to ensure residents have continuous access to cooking gas and vehicle fuel. Authorities warned that panic buying and hoarding activities could unnecessarily disrupt the current supply chain.

Officials urged the public to ignore unverified claims regarding price hikes and product availability. Residents should rely exclusively on official government communications for updates. The administration issued a stern warning that it will take strict action against any individuals caught spreading misleading information or rumors that trigger public alarm.
