Shillong: Author Dilip R Marak recently launched his debut English biography, Love at First Sight, at his home in Sunny Hills, New Tura. The book chronicles the life of Ambrose T. Sangma, a long-time friend of the author and a fellow former headmaster within the Education department.
Dr. Crystal Cornelious D. Marak, secretary of the A•chik Literature Society, officially launched the publication before an audience of academics, writers, and family. During the event, he praised the work for capturing individual history and suggested that a Garo translation would benefit local literature.
The biography focuses heavily on the personal history of its subject. A provided statement regarding the release noted, “The biography that Dilip penned for his close friend, Ambrose T Sangma, stands out not only for its personal significance but also for its sensitive portrayal of a profound romantic relationship.” The text explores the deep bond between Ambrose and his wife, Batildha, highlighting their lasting affection.
Guests included Sengjrang N. Sangma, principal of the Government Girls’ Higher Secondary School in Tura, and Rev. Nicky N. Sangma of the Tura Baptist Church, who both spoke on the value of literary legacies and cherishing life experiences. Dilip R. Marak, who retired as a Sub-Divisional School Education Officer in 2018, is also an active photographer and trekker known for his expressive writing style.
