Guwahati: The All India Congress Committee tapped Chamaria MLA Rekibuddin Ahmed as a key observer for its Vote Bachao, Desh Bachao campaign. This initiative kicks off immediately. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge approved the move, which was confirmed in an October 16 press release from General Secretary K.C. Venugopal.

Ahmed joins a massive 208-person observer force spanning the country. He must coordinate party units across his assigned district clusters. Observers oversee local campaign activities and monitor progress. These leaders focus on a specific mission: "raising concerns over electoral rights and the integrity of the voting process."

The party aims to flag suspicious irregularities in electoral rolls and voting procedures. They want to expose the exclusion of eligible voters and push for transparency. The campaign also rallies public support to hold democratic institutions accountable. This assignment grants Ahmed a major organizational role as the party works to protect voter access on a national scale.
