Kohima: Chumoukedima Deputy Commissioner Polan John wants results. He gathered department heads at his office on September 24 to demand a unified front against local drug use. The district needs a stronger, faster, and more coordinated anti-drug campaign.
John ordered every department to track their progress. They must submit detailed reports for review at future meetings to keep the pressure on. Clear data drives action. He also targeted the local recovery industry, ordering officials to identify and verify all de-addiction and rehabilitation centers against Central Government standards.
Bad actors face consequences. "Appropriate action must be taken against centres failing to meet prescribed standards," John warned during the meeting. Beyond policing centers, the DC pushed for aggressive preventative measures in schools. He wants Drug-Free Campus programs launched alongside school-based Drug Awareness Clubs that integrate both teachers and students.
The plan shifts focus to positive reinforcement. Departments should push sports and constructive activities to pull youth away from substance abuse. The DC reminded officials to maximize the use of all resources currently held under National Narcotics Control initiatives. Constant coordination is the only way to get this done.
