Guwahati: Burglars broke into the DS-4 Railway quarters in Kokrajhar during the early hours of July 19. They hit the residence of Railway Station Master Chandan Kumar while his family slept. The thieves climbed through a sliding window and unlocked the main door to enter the home around 4:30 am.
The family discovered the crime after waking up and finding their mobile phones missing. Suman Kumari, the wife of the station master, said, "The burglars entered the house at around 4:30 am by opening a sliding window and unlocking the main door."
The haul included two mobile phones, cash, and various gold and silver items. Stolen jewelry pieces include a gold mangalsutra, rings, and payal. The total value of the stolen goods hits 4 lakh rupees. Police are investigating the scene.
Local residents worry as crime rates spike. Recent burglaries have plagued Shanti Nagar and Subhashpalli. This latest hit adds to the town's growing security issues.
