Guwahati: Bokakhat MLA Rupam Chandra Ray traded his suit for a traditional hat and Koch-Rajbongshi gamosa to work in the mud. He headed to Haribhita village near Kokrajhar town. Ray jumped onto a tractor and helped local workers transplant paddy saplings.
The legislator wanted to show that farming provides real independence. He ignored the typical speeches and slogans. Instead, he got to work. Ray believes local youth should treat agriculture as a serious career path. He wants people to see that honest labor brings dignity. Agriculture stays the backbone of the rural economy, he noted.
"Agriculture should not merely be discussed in words and slogans but should be embraced through practical participation," Ray said. His hands-on approach earned praise from the local farmers. They appreciated his effort to bridge the gap between politicians and the people working the land.
