Baptist College Kohima Hosts 9th Annual Literature Festival

Kohima: Baptist College Kohima held its 9th Literature Fest on September 25. The event took place at Rivenburgs Memorial Chapel under the theme, The Living Anthology: Connecting the Scholar, the Author, and the Stage. The Department of English organized the day to link academic study with creative performance.

Eight students tackled the intersection of literature and society during the morning colloquium. Donensangle explored literature and identity while Nungmei Konyak examined popular literature trends. Shanti Bhator analyzed how language preserves culture, and Pewe-u Naro discussed gender. Pipivi Sheqi focused on indigenous narratives, James Rai tracked societal changes, Kevizalie Vakha looked at human perception, and Thejalelie Keyho spoke on the digital era. Judges named Pipivi Sheqi the best presenter and awarded Thejalelie Keyho the best paper prize.

Machipeibo Zeliang, an author and assistant professor from St. Xavier College in Jalukie, led the second session on memory and imagination. He highlighted his personal inspirations during his talk. He stated, "The author recounted how his grandparents and mother's dreams, prayers and the stories they narrated inspired his work."

The day wrapped up with an inter-college open mic contest. Apuka Zhimo from Baptist College Kohima took first place. Mhalevonuo Khezhie of Kohima College and Rokonuo Mekro from Alder College secured second and third, respectively.
