Guwahati: Assamese feature film Oiii Police will arrive in theaters on January 22, 2027. The project stars Ravi Sarma and Amrita Gogoi and features direction by Suvrat Kakoti. The team initially planned an August release but scrapped those plans as deadly floods displaced thousands across Assam. The production team focused on relief efforts instead.
Director Suvrat Kakoti explained the decision to wait. "We had thought of releasing the film in August, but our entire team was not mentally and emotionally ready to think of running a film when our own people were in a terrible condition." The cast and crew visited villages to offer aid before rescheduling.
This film serves as a reunion for Sarma, Kakoti, and producer Pranay Dutta following their work on Shri Raghupati. The story mixes action, humor, and family themes. It aims to push beyond typical police drama tropes.
The production held an official trailer launch in July for media members and film industry professionals. While the crowd reacted well, the team pulled the social media rollout due to the ongoing state crisis. Fans can expect the official trailer to hit the internet before 2026 ends. Kakoti promised a high-quality spectacle, noting that they worked extensively on music, performances, and the overall visual scale to meet modern audience demands.
