Guwahati: Assam has rapidly transformed into a major destination for the live entertainment industry. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma reported that the state successfully hosted 55 ticketed live shows throughout 2025, representing a significant shift in the region's cultural appeal.
Data shared by the Chief Minister on social media reveals a 222 percent surge in event volume alongside a 188 percent increase in total audience attendance compared to previous years. Sarma noted that the state was missing from major tour calendars until recently, but it has now become a prime venue for event organizers and performers alike.
The Chief Minister credited this progress to the state's evolving cultural scene and improved infrastructure. Sarma remarked, "Assam has emerged as a major destination for concerts and live events."
Local officials believe this upward trend bolsters the state's tourism, hospitality, and creative sectors. By drawing larger crowds, the state continues to strengthen its reputation as a vital cultural hub within Northeast India.
