Kohima: Assam Rifles troops pulled two trucks from a mud-choked road in Mimi, Nagaland, on September 6. Continuous heavy rain triggered soil erosion that left the vehicles trapped in unstable, muddy conditions. Soldiers arrived, assessed the mess, and hauled in a JCB to move the vehicles. Local residents helped guide the trucks to safety, restoring traffic flow to the area.
The force kept busy elsewhere. Assam Rifles units under the Indian Army’s Spear Corps staged a Teachers’ Day event at Merapani Town High School. The gathering brought together teachers, students, and local community members to honor the roles educators play in student development.
Soldiers and staff discussed discipline, values, and community participation. They also held a tree plantation drive on the school grounds. Officials said the initiative served to "encourage students to develop greater awareness and responsibility towards the environment." These efforts reflect the military's ongoing outreach during extreme weather and daily community life.
