Guwahati: Assam Minister Atul Bora opened the District Panchayat Resource Centre in Tinsukia on October 16. The project cost 2 crore rupees. It sits near the Makum Co-District Commissioner’s office. The new facility includes an administrative building and a hostel built under the Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan.

This hub operates under the Golap Barbora State Institute of Panchayat and Rural Development. It aims to train elected Panchayat representatives, Gaon Panchayat secretaries, and Self-Help Group members. Bora told the crowd the centre serves to improve transparency and administrative efficiency. He stated, "Strengthening the Panchayati Raj system was among the state government’s key objectives for building a stronger rural economy."

The centre will function as a knowledge hub for social security schemes, rural planning, and digital governance. It intends to boost local capacity and meet broader state development goals. The minister urged officials to make the best use of the new resource.
