Guwahati: Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu revealed the winners of the 2026 Professor Tabu Ram Taid Memorial Literary Awards. He praised the group for their work in literature, language, and translation. Pegu said their efforts were "commendable" in a post shared on X.
Kynpham Sing Nongkynrih takes home the Professor Tabu Ram Taid Literary Award. He is a professor at North-Eastern Hill University in Shillong. Judges chose him for his book Funeral Nights. Anuradha Sharma Pujari earns the Upanyas Samrat Rajanikanta Bordoloi Samannay Literary Award. The Sahitya Akademi winner secured the honor for her novel Mereng.
The awards recognize deeper cultural roots. Migang Kalinath Panging wins the Professor Tabu Ram Taid Mising Literary Award for his impact on Mising literature. Meanwhile, Migang Indreswar Pegu receives the Professor Tabu Ram Taid Mising Translation Literary Award. He translated Rabindranath Tagore’s Gitanjali into the Mising language.
The Tabu Ram Taid Memorial Trust manages the honors. They will hand out the prizes on August 1. The ceremony takes place at Cotton University in Guwahati during a special memorial event for Professor Taid.
