Guwahati: Assam Minister Pijush Hazarika handed out cheques worth Rs 10,000 to nearly 19,480 women in the Juria playground today. The funds fall under the Mahila Udyamita Scheme. These beneficiaries hail from the Rupahihat constituency. The cash injection aims to jumpstart local livelihoods.
Hazarika took the stage to address the crowd. He laid out the government goal for the initiative. "The scheme aims to help women become financially self-reliant by enabling them to start small businesses and livelihood activities with the assistance provided under the initiative," he said.
Local leadership attended the event. MLA Jitu Goswami and Nagaon District Commissioner Devashish Sharma sat in on the proceedings. Beyond the aid, the minister discussed regional development projects. He also weighed in on the upcoming Nagaon Lok Sabha by-election, urging the crowd to reject the Congress party. The official welfare event carried a sharp political edge.
