Guwahati: Forest officials arrested Suren Rabha after intercepting a vehicle in the West Kamrup Forest Division. A team from the Loharghat Forest Range Office acted on a confidential tip regarding wildlife movement. They found a live pangolin inside the transport.

The raid netted the protected animal immediately. Officers seized the creature and took it into department custody to begin legal processing. Officials said, "An investigation is underway to establish where the animal was captured and whether the accused has links to an organised wildlife trafficking network operating in the region."

The department is currently tracing the origin of the pangolin. They want to find anyone else involved in the smuggling operation. This arrest supports a broader crackdown on illegal trade involving protected species throughout Assam. Further legal action depends on the results of the ongoing probe.
