Guwahati: A special court granted bail to Paresh Baishya and Nandeshwar Bora, two personal security officers (PSOs) formerly assigned to Assamese singer Zubeen Garg. The court ruled in their favor regarding a disproportionate assets case filed by the Chief Minister’s Special Vigilance Cell.

Defense lawyers argued that police failed to follow proper arrest procedures. The court noted these "procedural lapses" while granting the bail request. Despite the legal win, the men stay in jail. They are currently held in Mushalpur Jail in the Baksa district.

The two men remain in custody because of a separate pending case involving the death of Zubeen Garg. The Assam Police Criminal Investigation Department originally arrested Baishya and Bora on October 10 of last year. The recent bail order applies only to the vigilance cell case and provides no immediate path to freedom.
