Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh officials cleared the early release of September salaries, wages, and pension benefits for state workers. The payment schedule moved up to September 25. Regular government staff and casual, contingency, and contractual employees will all receive their pay ahead of the shutdown. Retirees waiting on benefits are also included in the early release.

The move comes after the Union Ministry of Finance warned of service disruptions. Banks across the country face a three-day strike from September 28 to 30. The United Forum of Bank Unions, representing major employee groups, organized the walkout. The government marked the payment order as urgent.

Joint Secretary (Budget) Ikar Birchi issued the directive on Thursday. He ordered treasury and sub-treasury officers, drawing and disbursing officers, and regional banking authorities to handle the payments immediately. The unions are fighting for a five-day work week. They want all Saturdays off. The unions stated they are seeking parity with the working arrangements followed by the Reserve Bank of India, central government offices and the insurance sector.
