Itanagar: Rajya Sabha member Tai Tagak met Union Minister for Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw in New Delhi on July 23. He demanded better rail links for Arunachal Pradesh. The MP wants a direct train running between Naharlagun and Chennai. This route would serve students, patients, and professionals heading to Tamil Nadu.
Tagak also proposed a name change for the Naharlagun to New Delhi AC Superfast Express. He wants to call it the Arunachal Express. He believes the move will boost local pride and patriotism. Tagak said the meeting was, "cordial, constructive and productive."
The minister listened to the requests. If a direct Chennai train proves impossible, Tagak suggested a backup plan. He wants a coordinated superfast connection starting from New Jalpaiguri to meet the existing Delhi service. The Railway Ministry promised to consider these proposals. Officials confirmed the minister reacted well to the plan.
