Kohima: The Ao Students' Conference defended public debate on September 23. President Lanulemba Longchar and General Secretary Aomayang Longkumer signed a press release in Dimapur. It addresses the ongoing discourse involving Dr. SC Jamir and his stance on the Naga political issue.
The group argues that questioning Jamir does not violate his free speech. Every citizen has a right to challenge opinions on Naga affairs. People must stop trying to claim sole ownership over these political discussions. The conference demands that parties use facts to counter inaccuracies instead of resorting to silence.
"No individual or organization should claim exclusive ownership of the right to discuss the political future of the Naga people," the statement read. The AKM insists that society must resolve disagreements through mutual respect. Intimidation and condemnation have no place in this dialogue. They want open debate to settle disputes.
