AASU President Demands Full Assam Accord Implementation

Guwahati: AASU president Utpal Sarma issued a stern warning to the Assam government on Independence Day. He demanded the immediate and full implementation of every provision within the Assam Accord. Failure to act will trigger fresh agitation. Sarma spoke during a candle-lighting ceremony held in Morigaon on August 15. The event honored those who died during the historic Assam Movement.

Sarma remains firm. He stated, "If the Assamese community is to survive, every provision of the Assam Accord has to be implemented. Our struggle will continue until the Accord is implemented in letter and spirit." The organization refuses to let these past sacrifices vanish. They will not allow their people to bow or kneel before Bangladeshis within their own borders. Activists insist on holding their heads high while the fight for indigenous rights continues across the state.
