Kohima: Zunheboto officials gathered June 26 to prep for the 2027 Census. Deputy Commissioner Dharam Raj led the meeting at the district headquarters. He told local leaders that getting the numbers right matters for every village. Accurate data drives fair funding and political representation.
Representatives from major groups attended. The list included Sümi Hoho, the local Gaon Bura Association, and various student and women organizations. These groups play a major role in local oversight. Raj warned against bad data like duplicate entries during the count.
The Deputy Commissioner told the room, "there is no choice regarding delimitation." He argued that clean records remain the only path to proper government planning. Every person must be counted once. Nothing more, nothing less.
The stakeholders pledged their support to the census team. They called on village leaders to run an error-free process. The exercise aims to keep operations transparent for all residents.
