Kohima: The Zukhumki Federation of the Chukitong Block held its third annual general meeting this week at the AG Church in Koio village. Operating under the Nagaland State Rural Livelihoods Mission, the event brought together community members to assess progress and discuss future development strategies.
Yanrenthung Humtsoe, chairman of the MSME-PCI for Wokha district, attended as the special guest. He urged participants to focus on financial independence through collective action and community-based initiatives. He specifically highlighted the necessity of understanding government schemes and skill training, noting that "knowledge of financial management, government schemes, skill development programmes and training opportunities was crucial for the success of Self-Help Groups."
Local leadership lauded the ongoing success of these groups in boosting household income and promoting women's entrepreneurship. Koio village head GB Nchumbemo Ezung emphasized that these organizations have become vital for community participation. During the meeting, members shared success stories, including the CIG on Spices SHG from Tsungiki. This group gained recognition for diversifying its production from ginger candy to processed chili and soybean products, eventually earning the Best Performing SHG Award in 2018.
The program featured several speakers who outlined the federation's financial status and future goals. Janthungbemo N. Ezung opened the event, followed by a financial presentation from Ajanbeni Ngullie. Federation president Y.
