Guwahati: Visitors cannot access Zubeen Kshetra until the morning of June 26. The Zubeen Kshetra Cleanliness, Management and Monitoring Committee shuttered the memorial at 9 p.m. on June 22. It stays locked for three full days.

This closure aligns with customs surrounding the annual Ambubachi Mela. The Kamakhya Temple also stays shut during this time. No one will light incense or lamps at the memorial while it remains off-limits to the public.

The site functions as a memorial for the late singer Zubeen Garg. It stands on the ground where his body was cremated. Supporters now view the area as a sacred space, leading the committee to act in accordance with local tradition. The committee noted, "the observance is being undertaken in that spirit." Operations will return to normal once the Mela concludes on June 26.
