Kohima: The Regional Transport Authority in Wokha held a riding test on Wednesday to select operators for the district’s upcoming two-wheeler taxi service. A total of 43 candidates gathered at the District Transport Officer office to demonstrate their skills, while 11 registered applicants did not attend the session.
A specialized board evaluated the riders on their vehicle control, balance, and general road safety awareness. The assessment team included Assistant Regional Transport Officer Khughavi P. Swu, Assistant Enforcement Inspector Chumthungo Humtsoe, and Motor Vehicle Inspector Asaibe Guing. To maintain transparency, the Extra Assistant Commissioner for Transport supervised the entire event.
The move follows a recent notification inviting residents to apply for these permits. Officials expect the launch of these taxi services to boost local employment while offering better commuting options for residents in areas with limited transit access.
