Wild elephant kills youth and injures child in Assam

Guwahati: A wild elephant killed a youth and left a five-year-old child with serious injuries in Assam’s Goalpara district on Monday night, September 14. The attack happened at Naldoba in Nepalikhuti, which sits inside the Goalpara East Assembly constituency. The lone animal ambushed the family members, forcing the child to a hospital for emergency treatment.

This tragedy follows the death of Amjad Ali, a 17th Assam Police Battalion jawan who was recently killed by an elephant in the same district. A large herd now roams across the Goalpara Regional Forest Division, destroying crops and terrorizing residents. The locals are fed up. They fear the animals and demand better safety measures.

Residents want effective monitoring and early warnings to keep communities safe. Frequent incursions have made daily life dangerous.
