Guwahati: A wild elephant killed a local man in Kamakhya village today. Jiten Gour was walking to open his shop on the road near the Kamakhya Temple when the animal struck. The beast had wandered out of the nearby Kamakhya Reserved Forest.

Gour died instantly. The attack left him no chance. Police arrived at the scene shortly after the strike, but the atmosphere remained tense.

Angry residents claimed forest staff failed to show up for hours. One local stated, "Despite the attack taking place during the night, officials from the Forest Department had not reached the spot for a considerable time." Investigations remain ongoing as the community waits for answers.
