Guwahati: A wild buffalo tore through the Naharani area of Khowang on Saturday, leaving two men seriously hurt. The animal struck 46-year-old Bharat Saikia and 51-year-old Sarat Saikia during the rampage. Locals scrambled to help, rushing the men to Assam Medical College and Hospital for emergency care.

Chaos gripped the district as police and forest crews swarmed the area. Teams fired crackers to force the beast back, eventually tracking it to nearby agricultural fields in Nopathar. Officials remain on high alert.

Authorities are planning a coordinated push to clear the animal from the vicinity once night falls. The Forest Department issued a stark warning to the public. "The Forest Department has appealed to residents to remain vigilant and avoid visiting the affected area unless absolutely necessary until the situation is brought under control."
