Guwahati: A wild buffalo tore through the Naharani area in Dibrugarh on Saturday. The animal charged at two local men and left them with serious injuries. Bharat Saikia, 46, and Sarat Saikia, 51, suffered the brunt of the attack before neighbors rushed them to Assam Medical College and Hospital for emergency care.

Panic took hold of the village. Residents stayed locked behind closed doors while the beast roamed the streets. Forest Department crews and local police pushed into the area to track the animal down. They are running an operation to secure the locality and prevent more bloodshed.

Officials issued a stern warning for everyone to stay alert. The public should avoid spots where the buffalo was last seen. As the hunt continues, authorities remain on high alert. The department confirmed the status of the effort, noting, "Further details are awaited as the operation continues."
