Shillong: West Jaintia Hills officials gathered at the Jowai Deputy Commissioner's Office on Saturday. They trained Booth Level Officers and supervisors for the upcoming Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls. The program prepares staff for field work across four assembly constituencies in the district.
The revision affects Nartiang, Jowai, Raliang, Mowkaiaw, and Amlarem. Starting June 30, officers will head door-to-door to conduct enumeration. The process runs through July 29. Each voter receives an enumeration form during these visits. The official collects one copy and leaves another with the resident. The resident must sign this copy to confirm receipt.
Electoral Registration Officers will use this data to draft the new rolls. The draft goes public on August 5. Residents have until September 4 to file claims or objections. Officials expect to finish handling those requests by October 3. The final voter list hits the public on October 7, setting October 1, 2026, as the cutoff date for eligibility.
The Deputy Commissioner released a notice on June 26 detailing these steps. Local leadership issued a clear request for public assistance during the operation. They "appealed to all eligible voters to cooperate with the Booth Level Officers and the district administration to ensure the smooth and successful conduct of the Special Intensive Revision exercise."
